Welcome

Welcome to the Gnome Roam! Meet your guide, Gilby, who will introduce you to all the important work (and play) done by the gnomes of Story Mill Park. You have arrived on a very special day, as everyone is preparing for the Gname Day Celebration!

Lookout tower

In the lookout tower, gnomes keep watch for fires, incoming weather, and, most importantly, troll invasions. Most days, it’s a very dull job but Tor’s on duty today and he may be in for some excitement!

Troll Trap

Chief Willowwinkle manages all troll traps surrounding Story Mill Park, making sure the park stays safely troll-free. Today she’s showing visitors a classic box trap and shooing away curious bunnies!

Fungus Farm

Sigrun and Una grow, store, and create all sorts of concoctions with mushrooms. They also keep tabs on the Finders Fungus - the magical mushroom that keeps the gnomes healthy. Only problem? It’s always moving around the park! See if you can spot where it landed today!

GILBY'S HOME

Every door you spy on a tree is an entrance to a gnome’s home, and this one happens to be Gilby’s! Gnome homes are cozy underground spots with warm hearths, plenty of snuggling nooks, and very fancy toilets.

clinic

Dr. Tuva Orewinkle runs the clinic, caring for all the gnomes and animals in the park. She has a cure for pretty much everything. Today she’s seeing to Per Bunny who got his toes pinched in a troll trap!

Story Mill Mine

Grimy is the fuzzy eared gnome in charge of the mine. He’s grumpy and a bit hard of hearing (because of all of that ear hair) but he does a great job leading the crew as they harvest gemmies, mysterious stones with magical powers.

Root Cellar

Here’s the community root cellar where Sven and chipper chipmunk Skeggs manage the food storage to get everyone, gnome and animal alike, through the long Montana winters.

Story Bowl

Gnomes are experts at all forms of winter recreation and they hone their skills at the Story Bowl Snow Sports Center, which offers skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, sledding and more. Meet Axel, the head bro… erm… manager of Story Bowl..

Woodshop

Gilby’s daughter Burla runs the wood shop with the help of the park’s beavers. The secret to their excellent carpentry skills? Practice, practice, and lots of tree cuddling!

Snug and buzz

Here at the insect hotel, Bjorn cares for the park’s overwintering pollinators. He prepares nectar sippies and pollen cakes, and touches up the wings of the moths and butterflies while they snooze. If you listen closely you can hear the hotel guests snoring!

Fruit & Flax Bakery

Gilby’s wife Gilda runs the bakery. Every day she makes a hearty loaf of sunflower seed bread for every home in the park, delivered by a team of mice. Today she’s making special honeybuns for the Gname Day Celebration.

Gname day celebration

The gnomes are celebrating Gname Day today! Mayor De Groot offers the official invocation as everyone feasts and dances around the mushroom pole. All new gnomes are joyfully welcomed into the family as they take on their new roles as stewards of the park..
