TerraScope

by Sarah Washko & Jesse Barta

P0RTAL:

TerraScope

ARTIST:

Sarah Washko & Jesse Barta

LOCATION:

Valley West Park

SILLY BUSINESS SPONSOR:

The TerraScope opens up many tiny worlds of color and shapes. The ordinary can look extraordinary with the addition of a little color and reflection. There is no secret spell to make the scope work, just a bit of art and science!!! Spin the scope and point it to different sections of the solar disk. Explore each area carefully, or you might miss something! Some areas of the solar disk have scenes designed for fun tessellations; other spots are just combinations of colors. See what you can spot!

The colors in the glass will change based upon how much light is shining through. That means that at different times of the day, the TerraScope will show different colors for each unique pattern. You might even try having a friend shine a light at the solar disk and see what happens.

Sarah and Jesse live in sunny Bozeman with lots of art supplies and outdoor gear. Currently they are both trying not to step on the leftover glass shards from the TerraScope.

If they could open a portal to anywhere, it would be to the bottom of the ocean (with a breathing and pressure bubble of course!), where they would watch undiscovered bioluminescent creatures float by in quiet and the darkness of the deep.
