This cluster of gourd-shaped pods is home to the Schnarchenwald (pronounced Shnark-en-vald) family, who are afflicted with a very rare condition. Every member of the family–from the youngest child to the eldest grandparent–snores thunderously. To cope with the cacophony and ensure a good night’s sleep, their bedrooms are cozy sound-proofed chambers designed for just one fairy occupant each. To aid with their sleep challenges, the family gathers pineapple weed, also known as wild chamomile, to create a variety of snooze-inducing tinctures and teas. The multi-generational members of the Schnarchenwald family love to sit on their balconies in the evening, sipping tea and singing together before retiring to their individual sleeping pods.
Steve and Wren are members of the Bozeman Cohousing Community on the South side of Bozeman with their spouse/mom and three unique feline friends.
A long-time science educator, maker and digital artist, Steve manages the Montana Science Center’s
STEAMlab. He loves putting the “A” (for Art) in STEM and teaching visitors how to use the lab’s high-tech maker tools. He is a dedicated nature photographer, and volunteers as a meditation practice leader at the Bozeman Dharma Center.
Wren has been sharing their love for technology and creativity in the STEAMlab since 2022. In spare time, you can find Wren tinkering with their 3d printer, recording music, doing graphic design, or repairing and collecting vintage computers.
Steve and Wren love using high-tech tools to make art that looks natural. This is their third year as fairy architects, and they enjoyed exploring new construction methods and dreaming up new shapes and stories for their fairy residents.
